At Feltham Eyecare Centre, we know how worrying it can be to see your child’s eyesight getting worse each year. Glasses can slip during sports, fog up in bad weather, and sometimes affect a child’s confidence. That’s why we offer Night Lenses—also known as orthokeratology or Ortho-K—a safe, non-surgical treatment that corrects vision while your child sleeps and can slow the progression of short-sightedness (myopia).
Our owner and optometrist, Mohamed Kasmani, is fully certified to fit both leading types of night lenses:
- Menicon Bloom Night™ – the only CE-marked night lens specifically approved for myopia management, with a full monitoring and support system.
- Scotlens Nocturnal 2 – a custom-designed, off-label night lens proven to give excellent results for myopia control.
Why Choose Night Lenses for Your Child?

- Glasses-free confidence – enjoy clear vision all day without frames or daytime contact lenses.
- Perfect for sport and active play – no slipping, steaming, or breakages.
- Gentle on the eyes – lenses are only worn overnight, reducing daytime dryness.
- Scientifically proven myopia control – can slow progression by around 45–50% in children and young people.
- Reversible and safe – if your child stops wearing the lenses, the eyes return to their natural shape within days.
How Do Night Lenses Work?
- Night lenses are specially designed rigid gas-permeable lenses that gently reshape the cornea overnight. In the morning, your child removes them and enjoys clear, natural vision all day without glasses or daytime contact lenses.
- Best suited for:
a. Myopia from –0.50D to –5.00D
b. Astigmatism up to –1.00D - Higher prescriptions may still be possible but might require occasional glasses for some tasks.

Clinical Evidence for Myopia Control

Independent research shows orthokeratology can reduce myopia progression by approximately 45–50% compared to wearing single-vision glasses or standard contact lenses (PLOS One Journal Study).
This is important because slowing myopia reduces the lifetime risk of serious eye conditions such as retinal detachment, glaucoma, and myopic maculopathy.
